Wave Your Flag

IMG_2712

I’m about to leave for Salt Lake City in 4 days. Plus, tomorrow, the 22nd of July, is my birthday. I’m turning 21! Just a quick update! :)

I’ve got to say that, eventhough I’m already a week in my summerholiday, I’m not quite ‘detoxed’ from the workvibes. It always takes a while for me to really let go of the passed year. Tips are very welcome!

Allright, for some of us – I can’t imagine it though – the summerholiday feels way to long and these people just don’t know what to do with their time. They get bored easily and end up sitting in front of the TV. That’s completely fine if you love watching TV, but if you’re just doing it because you are bored things need a little shake up.

The World Is Pictureworthy

Yes, also the abandoned town where you might live. I’ve really learned that by photographing for my blog. I used to think that my village wasn’t interesting enough to shoot my photo’s and it would all end up looking really basic compared to the California Coast. But going out with my camera more often and really looking for spots and places – somethimes just corners – really made me see that if I try a little harder I can take the prettiest pictures everywhere. You heard me, you don’t have to be at the Westcoast.

Disposable Camera

Another camera related tip 😉 Disposable camera’s are amazing, you don’t have the oppertunity to check if you looked good on the pictures all the time and you won’t be able to share everything on social media. Thank God, that must be such a relief. It’s just you and the ‘unknown film’ inside of the camera. And at the end of the summer, by the time your films have been developed you’ll be looking back on the memories that you might have forgotten about already. Lovely!

“Waste Time”

Oh, you were talking to me? I was just laying in the garden dancing around in my own fantasy world. Wasting time? Nah, not actually. It’s a great way to ‘detox’ from all the hard work and it makes us feel good. Taking a nap, dreaming about silly things. It’s actually really important, not a waste of your time at all!

Find Your Peace

That probably the most important thing I guess, I’ve been home a long for quite a while now and I find myself doing all kinds of things I wanted to do before but never had time for. I’m cathing up with some Youtubers I like to watch, I go sunbathing in the garden, I stroll around the neighborhood almost every evening when the sun goes down and everything looks warm and orange, I play guitar more often, I’m reorganizing my closet, I’m reading the most simple story-lined books I can find. Just, relax.

So, here you go. I hope you’ve seen enough pictures of me waving my home-made flags haha. It was pretty easy to make these, I just took some bamboo sticks and colourful thin paper. The comming up posts will be Travel related, since I’m finally on the road again within a few days. So if you like travel related posts and you want to follow me along make sure you’ll be back here on the blog! Also, for cool photo’s go follow my Instagram! It’s always fun there! :)

Allright, hope you all have a wonderful holiday, let’s make some memories! I’m going to pick an outfit for my birthday tomorrow. 😉

Love,

Sofie.

I loved the flags and so good to have vacations! I missed your birthday, happy belated wishes for your birthday! I love your posts, they encourage people to find their harmony. I really need motivation today, because of a family problem, I agree with you about cities, we can always find a good place in a city. I used to live in a small town some months of the year and in a big one in other months. I always thought they had nothing very beautiful to show, but lately I saw that they did have :) It’s in our eyes, what we want to see or not :) Hope you are having a great day!

Happy birthday!! I hope you have a fantastic day :) I loved this post and completely agree that sometimes you just need to waste time! I read a quote somewhere that said ‘time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted’ and I think it’s just so true! x

Happy Birthday, Sophie!! I hope you’re having a blast in Salt Lake City and taking plenty of photos to reflect on at the end of summer. Your tips for finding your own inner peace and slices of authenticity in a hectic life or an otherwise lazy summer are wonderful. I would love to pick up a few disposable cameras and carry them with me everywhere! I haven’t done that since high school, and shooting in film is such a rare thing now. Actually, speaking of, I would love to just switch things up and shoot in film for a bit. :)

Thank you so much for your sweet words! I haven’t been using a disposable camera since years (if a polaroid doesn’t count;) ) so I’m excited to see the shots when I get home! You should try filming as well! It’s what I study for and it’s magical, trust me :) xxx
