Deal With Anxiety

I’ve dealed with anxiety for a solid twenty years now. During these years I learned a lot about how to deal with it and make yourself come to peace when things go crazy. I’d like to share some of my tips and tricks because I think it might be helpful for a lot of people.

Skip cafeine

Caffeine triggers the mind, people who are easily stressed, nervous or dealing with anxiety are more likely to experience the negative side effects of caffeine. I know a lot of people think of coffee when it comes to caffeine, but it’s actually in a lot more products like tea and soda for example. I chose to only drink decaf coffee, 100& biological teas and when I drink soda, for example coke, I make sure it’s the decaf version. I really feel a difference when it comes to the peace in my mind so I can honestly say that for me it really works. You might want to give this a try.

When you’ve got a lot on your mind or when you’re constantly in doubt about whatever you  have going on, make sure you go out for a walk with a friend or play some really loud music to dance on. I know it won’t always be fun in the first place, because at those moments you’re not in the mood to dance it out. But it really can help you loosen up. Besides that, taking a shower may work too, close your eyes and just enjoy the warm water. The last thing you need to do is stay in bed and focus on the negative thoughts and feelings you might have.

You might be feeling nervous and unconfortable because you’re not breathing right. It may sound strange but a lot of people actually breath the wrong way. There’s something called Cecar Therapy where you can learn how to breath again. Personally I have no experience with this yet but I still have to make an appointment because I breath wrong too, which causes a lot of panic attacts when I get anxious.

If you are having trouble sleeping in or if you are not able to let go of your fears and unconfortable feelings during the day you may want to try Valerian. It’s an all natural, harmless herb which can help relax your mind. You can buy it in your local drug store or pharmacy. But I still recommend seeing your docter first before using this product!

Get creative

Shape your anxiety in some kind of form that you can make something pretty out of it. Are you interested in writing? Write about it, a book with a character that deals with it too? Or a helpful article in your schoolpaper? Love photography? Find a way to visualize the feelings you have in a beautiful portret or collage. I’m sure you can come up with something creative. Creativity is my cure as well. Once you’ve accepted yourself the way you are with all your emotions you’re are able to create a lot of unique work out of it.

I hope this was useful, feel free to ask any questions about my personal experiences. Have a wonderful weekend!

Great tips 🙂 I’ve always found that for me it helps to turn the tables on anxiety by not calling it ‘anxiety’ but ‘excitement’. I am excited to go to this new place I haven’t been to before, not anxious. It’s exciting to go for that job interview because I get to meet new people. Well, it’s simple and it certainly helped me through my twenties.

Yes, very useful, be very sure of it! I like the beautiful pictures and good recommendations! I don’t drink coffee, ta and I try to drink as little as possible coke. But I meditate and I like to be creative… I guess this helps a lot! Or so I hope! I hope you have a very nice week!

Fijne tips!

Fijne zondag! 🙂
