A New World

I’ve been feeling a lot better lately, finally, after 3 or 4 months the air seems to clear up a little. I’ve been much more energetic and the last few days I’ve been staying up in the evening in stead of going straight to bed after work. Let’s keep up with this! Also, thanks to everyone who supported me by writing sweet messages on the blog and on Instagram! I appreciate it so much!

I want everybody to know that’s it’s human nature to experience ups and downs and there is nothing ‘weak’ about sharing them and facing them. It’s not always rainbows and butterflies and that’s okay. You don’t have to put on your fake smile if you actually feel like hiding in your sweater while going grocery shopping. Remember that!

2.1So. There is this thing I’d like to call ‘a new/second world.’  I’d say it’s a metaphor for something to keep your head busy. A hobby, a thing to focus on that light’s your fire. How do you find it and even more important, how do you keep it?

Along the way I noticed that the most important thing about this ‘new world’ is that you have to be able to add a personal touch to it, that’s the most important thing in order to keep it. Also, it has to be done alone. Yes, it can be shared but it’s got to be ‘your thing.’ For example, for a long time this has been writing books and making music for me. Another example is this blog, it’s totally mine, I’m sharing it but I’m writing for myself.

3.1So, the other day I was sitting at the office at my new internship and I was drinking out of one of these horribly designed branding mugs from some kind of company I don’t even know. And when I reached the bottom after finishing my tea I noticed a secret message saying: ‘Taking Control.’ And trust me, I am the kind of person who actually doesn’t get any motivation out of so called ‘motivational quotes.’  But at that very moment, that ugly mug had me thinking.

I am not going to let this world make me feel a certain way because of whatever is affecting me from the outside. I am in control, of course we all know that, but that doesn’t mean that it necessarily always feels like that. Alright in control, easier said than done but I want you to know that you are stronger than whatever is firing shots at you at the moment. If you are dealing with big issues or struggling with the silliest things make sure you’ve got your sacred place/hobby/new world/call-it-whatever-you-want and know that you are in control, always. No pressure from ‘society’ because at the end of the day… we are society. I feel like we forget that most of the time.

The weather has been so good lately, the sun is shining and it seems to get (and stay!) a little warmer. Although, I have to confess the skirt with bare legs was a little cold. It was only for the pictures and I had my jeans on again minutes later haha.

Also, this song has been stuck in my head lately: Lost Boy – Ruth B. The “Neverland Vibes” she sings about kind of remind me of the vibe in these pictures for some reason…

Anyway, I talk to you soon and stay updated with the coolest pictures on my Instagram! Remember, don’t let anyone get that smile off your face!

Lot’s of love,

Beautiful photos, I love your skirt! And you’re right – it is natural for us to experience ups and downs. The downs just make you appreciate the ups more 🙂

I agree with you, we are society but many people just forgot that these days. I have a “second world” for sure, and I liked the message “in” the mug. I actually take inspiration from motivational quotes 🙂 It’s true that we all have ups and downs and it’s just human! I also write for myself and I am glad to read that you do the same. I know some people who try their very very best to draw attention and they end up losing themselves. Loved the pictures, loved the skirt – you look very beautiful! Hope you have a nice week!

Wat fijn dat het wat beter gaat meid. Het is inderdaad absoluut waar dat jij je leven bepaald en jij de controle hebt, maar ik snap ook dat het soms niet altijd even makkelijk is. Liefs.x
